ask the oracle

Thanks to the perspective of friends, I am feeling much better now. Thanks.

On a happy note, I am an official pet owner for the first time in my life! (Not counting when I lived at home and did not actually purchase the pets myself). I went out this weekend and bought a bird--a cockatiel. It's yellow and grey and orange, with a little mohawk. Very stylish. My bird is rather mild, which is both good and bad. I like that it is quiet at night and any other time I wish it to be silent. I don't like when it won't chat and sing to me. :(

Actually though, birdy seems very trainable and intelligent. Just shy. And easily distractible. Like me. I went through a range of names for my bird, and would have held a contest to gather up more names, but I came up with one I really liked. Well, several actually. Here are some of the considerations:

Sherlock, Fitzgerald, Lex Luthor, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, Steinbeak (my roommate and I couldn't stop laughing at that one), Boo Radley, Petrie, Livingston, etc. Oh yes, and Mr. Feathers!

The name I decided on, though, is Gypsy. Simple. Easy to say. Reminds me of people I love. I'm wondering if I shouldn't have given him/her a more suitable name for a famous bird---my bird's parents' names were John & Jackie Kennedy. Maybe its official name should be 'Gypsy Fitzgerald Onassis'. You know, to give tribute to both his parents. We'll see.

On a random note, I feel like doing something wild, like working on a cruie ship, or playing guitar on the streets of Paris. In search of my life purpose, I went to the site u2.com, which has an oracle feature. You ask it questions, and get answers to your life problems.

Q:What should my career be?
A:What do you want?

Q:When will I be famous?
A:When the stars fall from the sky.

Q:Where should I move to?
A:It's all about Dublin.

Nice advice. Especially the Dublin part. It's totally all about Dublin. And I love that there's a fount of wisdom I can go to and ask all my deep questions. However, I did ask it the big question, and this is the answer:

Q: How do I achieve happiness?
A: Watch more TV.

There you have it. Turn your television set on!
