things unfold nicely...

1. We were told on Tuesday that this was the work of someone who had resources and knew what they were doing. That seems obvious. What I'm curious about, is how someone who knew exactly what they were doing could leave behind an obvious trail and clues that are SO obvious we find them by day two of the tragedy. Would a mastermind have been so sloppy? Hmmm. On to point two...
2. Either the perpetrators wanted to be found out, or not. If they wanted to, I would think they would brag about it from the beginning. No one did. So it seems that they did not want to be found out. However, hijackers used their own credit cards to buy plane tickets, so authorities got their names and tied them directly with bin Laden--and all this on the second day, with bin Laden in the background denying (yet celebrating) the crimes.
3. I'm the leader of the terrorist group, and I say, hey, let's have the hijackers drive themselves to the airport, leave their car there. Let's put some obvious things in it, like a flight manual in arabic. That will goad the American public. It will be so obvious we did it, and it will fuel America's anger and belief that they know exactly who did it. Yeah, good idea.
4. Isn't it nice that the FBI is keeping us SO up to date on the investigation? It feels almost as if we're right there with them discovering all the clues. "Oh, now we've discovered a car, and here's what's in it." "And now we found some luggage with the Koran in it" "Oh, and lookie here, we've made all kinds of arrests, and here are some names, which lead directly to bin Laden." Is there a reason the American public suddenly needs every detail of a criminal investigation blabbed on every news station? What can be accomplished by this?
5. I think that whoever did this knew pretty much what the reaction of America would be. How could they not know that such a large-scale attack on American soil would 1. immediately incense the American public, 2. cause the authorities to launch an all out attack on whoever did it (as well as harboring nations), 3. bring America together in a patriotic zeal that could not come about except by such an attack. Whoever the perpetrators were, they had to know this from the start.
So what I want to know is who really did this? Is bin Laden the perfect scapegoat? Has it been just a little too easy to find out who did it? Is someone setting someone up for a war? If so, who? Who's on my side? Who's betraying who?
I don't have answers, I'm just a little disconcerted by what I've talked about above. I'm also concerned by the fact that nobody mentions any other possibilities except bin Laden--even before any evidence was found. And maybe it was him--I don't know. But I think bin Laden is not the only one in the world who has an agenda that might be furthered by Tuesday's attack. I hear from the American people that enough is enough and that whoever did this must be made to pay. Undoubtedly, but are we so very sure we know who did it? Everything has surely fallen into place nicely to make us think we do...
Any comments or reactions? Let me know.
